8♠ + 7♣ + 2♥ + 2♥ ruffs, + 1♦ = 20 tricks in spades. Only 18 in NT - boo!. Ah - both red suit hooks are on - make that 21 and 20.
Easy enough to get to 7N with your regular pard right? In my structure:
2♦ - 3♦
4♥ - 4N
7♠ - 7N
2♦ = 0-3 losers, usually 20+ hcp
3♦ = 5 controls
4♥ = asking bid
4N = 2nd round control
With a pard who doesn't play a lot of gadgets its more tricky:
2♣ - 3♣
3♠ - 5♥
6♣ - 6♦
7♠ - 7N
is possible I suppose.
At the table, I bid an imaginative 3♥ (!) at the table, which begot a 4♦ response from pard. 7♠ by me. 7N by pard. Well, OK, its not perfect.
Looking at some of the other results, I saw the following auction created TWICE:
4♠ - 6♠
7♠
I suppose to be fair, it might make exactly 4♠ (heart lead ruffed, diamond back, heart ruff)
I love the 7♠ call - "well, golly, if pard thinks he can make 6, I think I can make 7".
Hopefully, we won't get the feared heart ruff.
