So, you pick up
♠ xx
♥ Qxxx
♦ QJxx
♣ AJx
After a 4♠ opening by LHO then 5♥ by partner and pass to you, what do you do?
Incidentally, it's IMPs, white on red.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy - but it might improve my bridge.

I'm a passer as well. 6♥ may make and it's possible, albeit unlikely that 5♥ could go down. At least dummy shouldn't be a disappointment.
Over 5♠ it would be a tougher question.

unlike the others, I really do think this is a brutal hand. Especially white/red, partners range is soooo great. slam could just be cold, or pard may just be saving. I think the percentage bid is probably pass, but I'm willing to apologize to partner when he claims are trick 1. If the vul was red/white I would bid for sure.

Pass, its not even close. 5♥ does not promise 11 playing tricks

Pass and I think its close too.
The xx of spades is a worry, although if I had to guess, pard has a stiff.
The 4th heart merely provides some solidity to pard's suit in case he has AJ - 7th or 8th. Otherwise its of no value.
The diamonds and clubs alone might be the key to 6, or they might be worthless on offense. There's no way to know.
The lack of RHO raising is a minor concern, too.
Add a random minor King and I'll bid 6.
As I get older, I don't fret about staying fixed like I used to.

6♥ if we are saving it just costs a little more if it makes then great, if 5♥ makes and 6♥ doesn't and they don't have 5♠ then I say sorry. I feel I can't pass 5♥ with Qxxx in hearts, a side QJxx and a side ace.

Thanks for the replies. Frankly I was just curious to see if any of the top players would bid 6 with this hand. I passed and it worked out but I don't think I would fault anyone for bidding the slam with my hand.
