Maybe a GIB robot crawled into West's chair, because West made a typical, and typically STUPID, GIB-style lead: his STIFF heart. Lorserker eliminated a lot of this utter nonsense with the (slightly) improved GIBBO robots, but obviously a lot of the rot remains!.

The EW "defenders" then stick loyally to their lifelong principles (their illogical, sick, twisted lifelong principles):

At trick two, declarer leads a CLUB to his queen. West wins the ace and...of COURSE...immediately returns a...CLUB.

Declarer wins that club and then plays a SPADE to his jack. West wins the ace and...of COURSE...immediately returns a...SPADE.

You can PREDICT this stuff...like CLOCKWORK (but it's not always orange).

98.21 % for NS. 1.79 % for EW and their BRILLIANT "defence". But hey, maybe HUMAN EW defenders would have done even worse. After all, a small but dedicated band of GIBBO supporters (!!!???) keeps telling us that the robots are "better than most human players".

Had West sold out to North-South's 2S, they would have made 9 tricks and EW would have been minus 140 on the board.

But West wouldn't sit still for THAT! No, SIR! HE'S a GIBBO robot. HE'S super macho. HE won't be pushed around. HE won't give up so easily, because HE (have I mentioned this?) is a GIBBO robot!

So HE...bids a macho 3H (vulnerable!) on his 4-4-3-2 FOUR-count, and HE goes down THREE for minus 300. I guess that's the GIBBO version of "sacrifice bidding".

Meanwhile, compare HIS (macho) bidding to the CRAVEN underbidding of North (which luckily turned out well for him...on THIS random hand)!

No brains, no judgment, no consistency.

West bids 2S. What's strange is that a GIBBO robot would never OPEN this hand 2S, due to his having four hearts on the side...yet he's quite happy to make a pre-emptive jump overcall of 2S.

The auction gives declarer South a perfect road map of how to play the hand. Thank you, Mr. West. Thank you, Mr. East. I look forward to seeing both of you again MANY times in the future - as often as possible - but please, gentlemen, I beg of you: ONLY as my opponents, and NEVER...ever...EVER as my (shudder!) "partner".

North made a typically wild, unscientific, unilateral jump to a slam, in this case 6D.

It happened to work out fine on this random layout, since declarer made an overtrick, but it might NOT have worked out "fine" on many other random layouts.

GIBBO robots should learn how to use all available bidding space to investigate intelligently. Even more important, GIBBO robots need a better system than the antiquated, inferior one GIBBO has saddled ALL its participants with.

East wins trick 8 with his diamond ace.

At trick 9, he correctly plays a heart, the suit that his partner West had overcalled in (when he bid 1H over South's 1C opener), the suit that East had supported (when he bid 2H over North's 2C), and the suit that West had led at trick one (when West led an honest fourth-best 3, North's jack had won the trick, East had followed with his 6, and South had followed with the 4).

So, a true BRAVO to East for now, at trick 9, correctly playing a heart. MANY GIBBO robots that I "know" would have FAILED to do so.

But a GIBBO robot can apparently NEVER be fully correct, because East's remaining hearts at trick 9 are the 109 doubleton, and - oblivious OAF that he is - he cannot even return the correct heart from the mere two he has left! Rather than correctly playing the 10, he shows his ignorance by playing the 9. A CHIMPANZEE would have had a 50-50 chance of playing the proper heart!

But abysmal as his play of the 9 was, it should not have made a difference. South, with K8 remaining, had NO legitimate way to prevent EW from now taking FOUR heart tricks to beat his 3NT contract one...yet South mot only MADE his "impossible" contract - he made it with an OVERTRICK!

He played his heart king and West, with AQ52 remaining, won his ace. West was now on lead at trick 10. The remaining hearts at this time were:

"Defender" West, now on lead, had the Q52. Dummy North was void. "Defender" East, having just incorrectly played the 9, was now left with the stiff 10. Declarer South had the stiff 8.

As you can see, ALL West had to do was CASH his heart queen, dropping BOTH East's remaining 10 and South's remaining 8. Then he could cash the LAST TWO hearts in the deck: his lowly 5 and 2. He had made the correct and best opening lead, and his partner had, at trick 9, made the correct and best return of a heart (albeit, sadly, not the RIGHT heart). These correct plays - for GIBBO robots (!) - were miraculous.

But for these CLOWNS, miracles do NOT last forever, because...rather than cashing his heart queen, West played...his FIVE (!!!) of hearts, retaining his Q2 for later use (ha, HA, HA!). "Later" NEVER came! East won trick 10, perforce, with his now-stiff heart 10. He then led his 10 of spades, and declarer South, with the KJ of spades and the 8 of diamonds as his last three cards, played the KING, dropping West's now-stiff queen. Then at trick 12, declarer cashed his now-high JACK of spades, and at trick 13 played his 8 of diamonds to dummy's esatablished, high queen.

10 tricks g=for NS. EASY game, bridge - but obviously NOT for the astoundingly hopeless GIBBO robots.
