I usually see bids like GIB North's jump to 4♠ when 2 GIBs are playing together. Both sides are bidding at the part score level, one side bids one more which convinces the GIB opponents that they should make a jump to game. Sometimes it even works.

Yeah, have seen that a number of times, but not when a pass by partner convinces them to go from a 3♦ signoff to a 4♠ game!

1. North trusted South's double, showing the pointy suits
2. Aware that his double was imaginative and relieved that opponents hadn't yet doubled, South passed instead of showing preference
