It seems like there's no reason for doubling 4♠ here to be a takeout double. We already know clubs is our suit and it seems like a penalty double would be a more useful thing to be able to bid here. And then after that, the bidding just went crazy lol.

I can't see the full description of Double after 4♠. How many points does this show in Gibberish? 30+???

Double says " Takeout double --- 5+♣,5-♦,4+♥,5-♠,18TPs".
Its definition should be no problem. Rebid-5♣ should be very good.
Good job, my basic Gib !

But I played with advanced GIB, and it thought its hand opposite 18 points was good enough for slam.

However my basic Gib thought its minimum hand opposite 18 TPs was not good enough to probe for slam when only with 7 TPs, so it decided to sign off at five level. Its logic thought is reasonable.

A definition of when a double is takeout vs. penalty is a very good idea. It's harder than most people think, but "penalty any time we have found an 8+ card fit" (and then define specific exceptions) would definitely be part of it.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

6♣ shows "no kings below clubs"
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

A good defensive play would be to duck the 1st spade. If declarer makes the mistake of repeating the finesse, it's curtains after you win 2 rounds of trump and tap declarer out of the last trump. I'm not sure what to make about the ♥A play on the first round of hearts. Playing for singleton king offside?
