Even though I am passed hand in the balanced seat,my double promises 4-4 majors at least.
However Gib N responding 4 with 4-card -- minor first instead of major? It is a common problem of Gib bidding.

GIB in v33 should already do it. So should be ok now.

With 6-4 it looks normal to me to bid the minor. You could have only three spades. Even if you have four, clubs could play better.

There's just so much more upside to finding major fits (maybe not this specific auction, with a passed hand double, not even clear it should still be takeout), that I think it's right to bid major first with 4-6 in general. It just makes life harder for opps (they have to be first to go up one level to compete, rather than your side), & you make finding major games a lot easier if partner's continuations don't have to cater to you having an unbid 4cM. Partner with a strongish hand and 4cd fit can find raises to 2 & 3M that get you to game, while if your respond in minor he has less room, often his percentage action is to pass and take your plus and the fit is never uncovered.

Even when the minor plays better, and you are only in a 4-3 fit, as compensation you are a level lower in most cases, and can sometimes outscore it in the major (2M making 3 vs. 3m making 4).

I'll wait until 4-7 to start bidding the minor.

For me, the jury's out. I have no problem that bidding a 4M in preference to a 5m is a winner. I have no problem that bidding a 7m in preference to a 4M is a winner. With 6-4 I have no problem constructing hands where either wins with a fair wind. Perhaps this lends itself to GIB Sims rather than a rule-based approach.

Does North simulate based on the "knowledge" that South has 3-5.

What's reasons for me to make takeout double if I can't promise 4-4 majors after 3?
Assume that I can't base on 4-4 majors with 5-card ,I am afraid that it is rediculous for my making double.

My passive-aggressive question was to point out that North made his decision after you told him that you had at least 3 clubs, and didn't promise two four-card majors.
