As a typical lazy student, I checked the hand records instead of answering. Partner actually opened 1♣ instead of 1♦ on the second hand and we are unfavourable. I.e.:

1st hand: easy 4♠, I think.
2nd hand: Pard rates to have 12-14 bal or some irregular min with 5+ clubs. Both dbl and 3♦ are options here, but I think dbl is better because if you bid 3♦ and find, say, a 4315 across, it's gonna be a mess.
Note: 3♦ should be taken as canapé, i.e. weakish 45 reds, not some strong variant, which can be bid in other ways.

With AKQxxxxx in spades and a side ace I Think a take-out double stands out, If you bid a direct 4S partner has no chance to guess your hand. Don´t forget spades is the boss suit.

As a nonexpert I would pass. Sounds like partner is 11-13 and 4=3=2=4

On the first one I would bid 4♠.
On the second one I think 2NT ought to show this hand but without that agreement I would double. Partner's most likely holding is 4333 opposite which I want to pass at imps, but he could have as much as 16(17?) with five clubs and four spades.

On a good day partner might guess that when you jump to 4♠ at unfavourable vulnerability you hold a long spade suit with lots of playing strength.
