You might have a chance of making 3♣, though. Unless playing fit non-jumps (or transfers) in this position, it seems clear to pass 3♣. you need an awful lot from partner to be making game.

The 3♥ rebid was just horrible. Even if my partner had persuaded me to play 3♣ as forcing (which would take some doing), I would still pass.

We'll probably end up defending 3♠ which needs tight defence to beat.

It's amazing otoh how people have too strong opinions about a bid that is close. One of them talking about an opening hand for a 2 level overcall and another one calling "chicken" to those who passes. Seems to me some people have no place in their life for the colors between black and white.
