Approximately 75.6325%. I could be off by .0001 or .0002 percent.

Depends if the good, the bad or the ugly (aka 'in between') one is sitting in front of me

Locally here in Rochester, we have our "70% Club", where we list folks who do at least that well in our local clubs. Very few of them are as much as 75%. In the July ACBL Bulletin, there's a list of great games from various clubs around the country. Very few of them, if any, were under 75%. I suppose that just shows that the bridge here in Rochester is pretty poor.

Personally, I'd be happy with a consistent 50%. B-)

Let us assume that the OP is asking about the displayed MP average for on-line players...an accumulation from their on-line play ---and not asking about FTF or Rochester.

These averages are dependent upon whom they play against (and with). When I look at a player's "average", and don't know the actual skill level of the player, I consider jjbrr's 53.5% estimate to be a good one. There is a possibility that some extremely high averages are engineered or contrived in ways that could not happen IRL.

Isn't this different for every player? Beginners might
be pleased to not finish last. Others expect to win
every time.
Is it better to be 65% for second or 56% for first?

I would say 100% is a good target

Doesn't that show Bridge at Rochester is stronger?

:P Oswald Jacoby used to say that his average in regional and national duplicate tournaments was 60%. He usually had a non-trivial wager on the game's outcome.

When I look around the field, I have to say no. B-)
