hyperlink |ˈhīpərˌliNGk|Computing
noun
a link from a hypertext file or document to another location or file, typically activated by clicking on a highlighted word or image on the screen.

hypertext |ˈhīpərˌtekst|
nounComputing
a software system that links topics on the screen to related information and graphics, which are typically accessed by a point-and-click method.
• a document presented on a computer in this way.

PDF |piːdiːˈef|
nounComputing
a file format that provides an electronic image of text or text and graphics that looks like a printed document and can be viewed, printed, and electronically transmitted.
ORIGIN abbreviation of Portable Document Format .

A PDF file may or may not contain hyperlinks. The ACBL's version of the laws does not, which is really a PITA and something I wish they would change.

Heh - Robin beat me to it, and shorter is better. :-)

That's no better, it doesn't have hyperlinks either.

You can make your own hyperlinks in Word.

I am not interested in going through the entire law book, making all the necessary links, when there's already a document that has it done. And Word takes much longer to start up than going to a web site.

What is hasn't got! :)

Doesn't it just mean a link to something on the web, eg:

St Louis bulletin 9

You could link to the start of chapters from the Contents, and to individual items from the index, for example, if it was a Law book.

you could. I wish the publishers (ACBL and WBF) would. I could create my own, but it's a lot of work, and I wouldn't be able to make it available generally.

PDF files take up a lot of space in my old netbook and displaying them wastes time :( So for fun, I created a small fast HTML5 version of the new laws with contents and some hyperlinks :) I fear I may be infringing copyright :( although I purchased a hard-copy version as well :)

You're not infringing copyright if it's only for your own use.

Someone posted a link to the HTML version, maybe it was in another thread.
