Hi guys,

I am thinking of playing short club. So whenever I open 1D I will always be four cards.

However, my 1C could be as little as 2 cards.

I also know that some 2/1 players do not play 2/1 over a 1C opening.

Is there any connection between the short club and this 2/1 tendency?

If not then what is the reason that 2/1 players do not play 2/1 over 1C openers.

In general, jump shifts and raises are not described as 2/1

An auction like 1 - 2 is a "2/1" bid
An auction like 1 - 2 is "jump shift"

Using this type of definition, there is no such thing as a 2/1 after a 1 opening

I guess since 1C is sort of like "1 noise", then you might describe 2C as a 2/1 bid. The rest of us would call it inverted with 5+ clubs. Same end result as far as your system is concerned, provided you agree on follow-ups and on how strong this 2C bid should be.
