When you poll, you poll a player's peers. Sounds like your high ranked player doesn't have many.

So when you poll you make sure that you only poll players with the same style (aggressive, careful, gambling or whatever) as the player whose decision you question?

Sorry, I doubt that you normally can muster a sufficient number of players with the relevant style. You have to consider the poll results allowing for differences in style.
