These sort of auctions are endlessly frustrating with GIB. There is basically no way (it seems) to evaluate if you have stoppers.

3C apparently is not natural, but then 3S is rather than showing a stopper? I think it would be better if 3H were stopper asking in this auction (and in general when one suit has been shown).

Finally, I think it makes no sense for 5D not to be to play.

FWIW, I understand 3S and 5D are bad bids playing with GIB (and 4S is actually a good contract)

yes one of the frustrating things is GIB sometimes cue bids instead of bidding 3NT with a stopper in a suit....but leaving it in 5 cant be good, you do have good chances at 6 or 6.

Won't GIB correct 6C/6D to 6S? Typically once GIB decides a suit is trump, it will not change its mind. This is why I think my best shot once I bid 3S and it raises to 4S is to just pass 4S.

I cant answer that...i was just saying 6 or 6 are pretty reasonable contracts....I usually try to make sure that i check real carefully what the bids mean before I make them cause GIB has no mercy when you pick someting that it thinks mean something other than what you meant....even then there is no gaurantee.

Would it have been reasonable for GIB to bid 2 the first time instead of 2?

The problem comes from the 3 meaning. It's not supposed to be "flying" suit. It will be fixed.
