4 leaping Michael's is not available (do you play it over this sort of opening?)

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

South could cue but he would look rather silly off 3 aces.
The opps got in before you could, no blame.

What is wrong with being in 4?
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

preempts work! I really hate bidding to a level where I have to finesse the preemptor for an offsuit(not his suit) card for the contract to make.

No blame, even if N had A10xxx, x, Kxx, Axxx still no blame really for a very good slam missed, preempts work sometimes.

I would definitely play leaping michaels over this opening.

No real blame on this hand given the methods though, and it's not clear to me that the K is significantly more than 50-50 to be onside anyway.

I wouldn't bid 4C even if that was an option.

Am I missing something? 4 seems fine, no blame, unless you want to blame RHO for having the K or LHO for not leading a heart?
Yay for the "Ignored Users" feature!

Not good enough for 4 in my book (although I play it as forcing).

Hi,

#1 not playing Leaping Michaels - you still have the option to bid 3H, simple Michaels,
Leaping Michalels has the adv. that p knowes, we have a double fit, so he knowes
only we have likely double fit.

#2 Slam is certainly ok, but given the bidding, the finesse may or may not be 50%, so
staying out of the slame is not the end of this world.

#3 yes, we play Leaping Michaels (nonforcing), assuming 2H shwoes hearts+?, and we would
bid it.

With kind regards
Marlowe

Yes I play 4 as LM here but I don't do it on yarboroughs. No blame.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Did the weak 2H have D:K?
Or opening lead H, then another heart
-- not seeing the ruff-sluff?
D:AK now WANT to get to 6S.
My immediate Q (=3H) promises monster or good controls oM.
Try DAPO (Chiel Vorheiss sp?) where 3D>2H =
15+/- S+C (2-suiter not bid suit)

Slam isn't bad in theory. If opps don't start hearts, it makes. If they do, maybe the diamond finesse is on.

In practice if LHO leads, say, J, it's next to hopeless.
