Europe
Sabine Auken - Daniela von Arnim, Germany
Boye Brogeland - Espen Lindqvist, Norway
Giorgio Duboin - Antonio Sementa, Italy
Fulvio Fantoni - Claudio Nunes, Italy
Jason Hackett - Justin Hackett, England
Geir Helgemo - Tor Helness, Norway
NPC: Paul Hackett, England
USA
David Berkowitz - Alan Sontag
Bob Hamman - Zia Mahmood
Bobby Levin - Steve Weinstein
Jill Levin - Jill Meyers
Jeff Meckstroth - Eric Rodwell
Geoff Hampson - Fred Gitelman
NPC: Donna Compton
Perhaps the strongest teams ever. You be the judge.
The teams seem to be quite comfortable with playing away from home. The inaugural event in 2006 was played in Ireland and won by USA, and two years later Europe won in Kentucky, USA. So, are the Americans favourites this time around?

Would be very surprised if it wasnt RM lite since I know Fred knows it/has played it, and Geoff loves it.
If anyone wants action I'll bet on USA at even money.

Yes - there's only one pair on there that would be even questionable IMO. Looking forward to VG.

Were they not also partners in 2006, and did they not play Precision (RM Lite) then? I think so.

They also played in the juniors in 1991 and did not play the system AFAIK.

I honestly don't even know which pair you mean. Well I think I might but I'm not sure. Anyway the teams look really really strong to me.

I think we will probably play Precision, but we haven't discussed it yet.
Hopefully we will get a chance to discuss it before we get on the plane to Wales

Well, I can't see which pair. Brogeland Lindqvist are probably the least known but they have already won 2008 european championship (winning butler classification in the final rounds) and they took 2nd in butler scores in 2009 bermuda bowl.
I see more "questionable" pairs in USA team. All great players but some don't have much international experience as partnerships (at least not that much as most other pairs)

I think Europe team is slight favorite. I will take even money if you are interested. PM !

Certainly I know nothing of the relative abilities of these contestants, regardless of gender.
But I did notice that both teams teams have exactly two women, in both cases playing together rather than in "mixed" pairs. Is this a coincidence, or some kind of structure?

My understand is that the selection criteria are based on multiple dimensions.
Bridge playing ability is certainly very important, but its not the only consideration.
Personally, I am more surprised that the European team has two teams from both Norway and Italy and no representatives from Poland / The Netherlands / Russia.
