I will pass, this hand screams misfit. To be making a game (5♦) I need quite a lot of ♦ from partner to ruff ♠, besides they risk being overruffed.

if the spade x'es are literal (lower than the 7) passing is hard, but I was taught misfits need to pass as soon as possible and if opps bid last, so much the better:)

Assuming that the x's are low, I bid 2♦. Who knows? Maybe they will bid spades again.

If I had AJ987 of spades, I might pass out 1♠x, but I am allergic to -160. Partner could be 1444 or 0445 for his double, and we have a 10 card diamond fit.

Sorry cant provide that information. this was from the partnership bidding tables, I was on my laptop and I cant find the hand.

Another question for the 1♦ openers - without any interference would you reverse into ♠ over a 1nt from p?

I share the allegy to -160 but -500 I am more allergic to--If we bid, three things can happen and at least two of them are bad:) right now they may well be playing in OUR best strain

It is possible that partner has a hand that looks very much like mine, but in the rounded suits. However, given the 1♠ bid, I strongly suspect that partner has a few diamonds. So I am not worried about going for 500 in 2♦x.
