In both cases GIB is just fine.
Anything else you want me to test?

Thanks Stephen, this is good to know, but I am still concerned that GIB did not work for pigpenz.
There is nothing specific I want you to try, but if you can continue to use BBO on your Vista machine when convenient and let me know if you find any problems, I would appreciate it.
I am trying to get Vista set up on one of my PCs as well.

The bad news is that 4.9.3 has gone back to crashing on exit running under Windows 98.
I bet its something to do with the ads......

You are correct (except that the crashes can happen in any version of Windows). It will be fixed in 4.9.4. Sorry about this inconvenience.

Do you get some kind of error message?
Is it possible that GIB is thinking and if you give it more time the results will appear?
After you click GIB button then "show double dummy results", if you then click GIB again do you see "show double dummy results" or "hide double dummy results" in the menu that appears?
Thanks for your answers and help.

I assumed (possibly incorrectly) that live bridge might be different.
Does it do the same when you take a hand from your archive on disk ken?
If you ask me what I think could be wrong Fred, there are a bunch of preferences in Vista that stop things from running, for security reasons. I wouldnt be surprised if the setup in pigpenz' version somehow stops applications from spawning DOS ("console") applications, which I am sure bridge.exe is.

steve, yes i do get a dialogue box that comes up about allowing the program to run. One of the problems with Vista is that even if you set yourself up at the administrator of the machine you really arent...I believe youstill have to set up an administator accoutn and it runs some sort of script.
Fred and on a hand i had looked up at home and got an instantaneous result on makeable or not contract on 3.2ghz machine with xpsp2 I ran it at work on same machine with vista and let it run over lunch time and there was still no showing of =or +/- number for contract.

In Windows XP if you hold down the Control and Alt keys and hit the Delete key, a Windows Task Manager dialog will be displayed. There is a Processes tab in this dialog box that lists all the processes running on your system.
I assume there is something similar in Vista. If you don't mind trying this, can you please see if there is a process named "bridge" that appears in the list after you click the GIB button?
"Bridge" is the name of the process that does GIB's double dummy analysis. I am wondering if it starts or not.
Thanks,

OK thanks. Sorry I have no idea what is going on. Probably this will have to wait until I can get Vista up and running myself. Hopefully this will happen some time this weekend.

I am using WINE (0.9.11) under Linux, so if noone can reproduce this, probably best to ignore it.

Thanks. It will be fixed in the next version. This is not a WINE problem.
