Nice new symbols :D

Most (not all) of my friends now have stars and so do the yellows...glitch?

Fred,

The smiles/frowns looks very smooth and crisp here. It also "feels" better for lack of a better word.

The ads were not overly distracting to me.

I have 4.9.2. The chatbox disappears when someone is making a bid if I happen to be typing at that time. Every few minutes I hear a click and my computer seems to be working but nothing happens, except my chatbox disappears again. I see no ads, neither in the lobby or in the room, not that I want to :)

I liked the new stars and locks a lot, but I'm not so keen on the smilies.

I don't really mind their use instead of the heart and club symbols, but that's only because one doesn't meet that much - I did think the old symbols looked quite a lot better.

I really don't like their appearing in text, though. I tend to like the simple 'making smilies' with text, but graphical versions seem very intrusive[1]. Perhaps there could at least be an option to turn them off? I know that I can get around it by forming my smilies slightly differently (e.g. :~), :)) ), but I don't really want to see them when other people use them either.

Perhaps I'm being a little harsh here. I think I particularly mind because I don't like the style of the smilies ... they're too cartoonish and 'cute'.

[1] Well, most graphical versions. The Google Talk ones recognise things as smilies and highlight them, but keep them as text. That seems a much nicer system.

Hi Rona,

Does the chat box disappear every time someone makes a bid or only occasionally?

Can you please do an experiment and try using BBO is narrow mode for a while and let me know if the problem persists. You can switch between wide and narrow modes with Control-W.

Thanks,

Also, does the chatbox vanish just when the ad refreshes?

I tried again but couldn't make it happen ..however the ads must have been removed because they didn't refresh and I don't see the notice in the lobby that I cannot connect to whatever ad I was supposed to see. The game in the main bridge club was normal :)

Yes I think I noticed weird things too when ad refreshes. If you're exiting vugraph or whatever table and go back to main lounge just as ad refreshes it (ad) doesn't seem to load right.

My chat box gets hijacked when an ad refreshes also. :( It would be great if that could be tweaked, since it's a bit disruptive. (I use the wide screen format -- haven't tried it in the narrow view.)

Hi,
When I scroll the chat area when watching a table, using large chat font, the far right fourth of the chat remains the same as it was for about 1 second, and only then does it catch up with the scrolled chat on the left area.

Also, suggestion - option to turn off emoticons - I think all IM programs make that optional. Even this forums has that option.

Thanks,
Dan

Thanks - I will fix this scrolling chat problem in the next version.

I will also add an option for emoticons.

We (mostly Uday) are still working on the problems that result from the refreshing of ads.

I don't remember this happening before, but I was playing in a teamgame, and a kibbitzer made a statement to the lobby, and it showed up to the whole table. This seems rather undesirable.
