Friday evening IMP pairs in my local club. Board 2. All 13 tables got -480, hence 0.00 IMP for everyone. 12 tables played in 4♥, 1 in 5♥, all by East taking 12 tricks. 10 tables led the ♣J, one led the ♠8 and 2 led the ♥5.

How rare are such hands in a normal club game with a large number of tables, where everyone plays the same contract and gets the same score?

Which, for a newish player re-entering the duplicate community, is jumping into the deep end with both feet. Even if some of the YC games aren't completely the Shark Tank; the last average NGS rating of the game I expect he's playing in was 58.7%. Which, if I'm reading things correctly (and I *absolutely* could be totally misunderstanding things), means that the *average* player in the random club game was in the top 1500 in England. By a rating scheme that does go up and down with results.

How? Upon the dummy goes down it is a lay down 12 tricks.

Lose the ♦A, draw 3 trumps, 2 clubs, ruff the remainder, no losers left.

Oh I now remember, there was some difference in my understanding between me and my partner about the rebid of Jacoby 2NT.

The version I learned is that
4♥ = minimum
3NT = medium
3♥ = maximum

So it would me a clear cut 3NT rebid for me, but his understanding was 4♥ = minimum and 3♥ = non-minimum, so this was a borderline hand (if he rebid 3♥ it would have excited me, but end up in 5♥ anyway when a keycard is missing).

My auction in a 4+, lim+ context would go
1♥-2♠
3♦ 14-15/16 not balanced - 3♠ ctrl
4♣ ctrl - 5♦ odd KCs, ♦ ctrl
6♥
with a 5-card suit I'd bid 3N instead of 4♣ to show weak honours

When only 1KC is missing, but the Queen is on board, you should go for it.
I did not look to closely at the hand set / the seq., just commenting on this last part of your sentence.

At my former club, almost unheard of these days.

Someone would have played the diamonds starting from dummy, or cashed all the trump before realizing they had to ruff a club in dummy.

Just be glad no pair missed game (which can also happen - some pairs have no forcing raise)
