Do Directors allow a claim before the Opening Lead? Hypothetical question

In top-level competition, I think I've heard of defenders occasionally conceding as soon as soon as the opening lead is made. Of course, they also accept claims based on squeezes, which no one would never attempt against random club players. Claims are supposed to speed things up, and this doesn't work if you have to spend more time explaining the play than just playing.

It took me a long time to remember what led me to construct my post example.

Although I wrote 'Hypothetical' in my OP subtitle, it actually happened as per Jeff Goldsmith. I guess I must have read the column many years ago.
