I came here to post about the exact same hand. I was speechless to be removed from 1N-X into 2N!

I would like to play 5♣xx with extra trump length but Ben pulled my penalty to 5♦, which ended up down 1 doubled due to bad trump split.

Bens holding was 9 card running diamonds and no high cards in the other suits. That is a forcing 4 loosers hand by all means. The opening hand was a standard opening hand with no Diamond support. 3 Diamond +3 laydown.

Partner Ben's 3D bid was also a bit puzzling, and I should probably bid 3H instead of passing after that (others just bid 3N after 3D in my spot, played it undoubled, and went down after a non hQ lead)

Me (dealer): Q9 / AKQ932 / AQ2 / AQ
LHO Ben RHO Me

2D X 2S 3H

We made 6 for +230.
Can anyone explain Bens pass?
(My 3H was explained as 19+ HCP, 23+ total points. Was I supposed to bid something else to show hearts?)

Ben claimed all tricks at trick 7. I rejected because I did not see it.
It did have all tricks, but it proceeded to go down.
