A rather sad bid - the only open-ended bid in the system is double which many used - - are there other options
Bid 1 spade and be passed? 2NT is obviously not available

I sadly thought 15+ was open-ended enough to get to at least 2 of something
I know my approach is simple but 6+15+ is at least 2NT, especially with me sitting over the 1c

Embarassing being the only person in a part score :)

Sadly it is the only bid that would work. Well 1 spade worked but etc
Me and trying not to psych

It isn't a psyche! All big overcalls start with double. THat's just basic bridge post 1950.

Apologies for trying to go by GiB bid descriptions :) - but I accept the X is the only open-ended bid available

And I still think 6+15+ sitting over a 1C opening is worth a 2 level response

But I always look on the brightside and scored positive :)

I have actually made worse errors, like being distracted by someone today during a robot tourney, and not realising I had passed a splinter. Thought I was happily making 4S+2 untl W trumped my second spade with a diammond :)

Possum, I think the bid description is 15+ HCP, 18- total points - the "total points" part is cut off the end when I view it on here, but the 18- is still visible. Sometimes GIB isn't too off the wall!

Yes, that was the problem I faced, choosing between 3 bids none of which perfectly fitted my hand :)

I shouldn't allow my rather relaxed approach to NT point ranges to distort my expectations of GiB - I know it likely needs 25+ for 3NT :)

And I still think it would be nice to give me the option if I have a good hand :)

6+15=21 and 6+18=24 plus if a nice hand :)

I appreciate the small flexibility over hand description relates to shape in this case X it is

And I did go through a lengthy decition process and sadly was the only person who did not bid X or 1 spade
