Convention Cards during play I can't see convention cards

For some reason I can't see convention cards during a game. I click on the horizontal bars and I see where I can choose N?\/S or E/W. But when I click on either one, I just see a blank convention card. I can't see the opponents' card OR my own card. How can I fix this??
