I know how to get hcp-like point values from
https://bridge.thoma...oldings.new.txt
using Andrews' definition of 'point'.
I'm less sure about how to get compatible point values (point adjustments) from
https://bridge.thoma...atterns.new.txt .
Andrews himself doesn't appear to explain this (I guess, obvious) step and even warns that the pattern values presented in
https://bridge.thoma...ons/points.html
are wrong. ("Data wrong - will fix real soon")
Does any of you have the correct values or can explain how to derive them?
Right now I'm mostly interested in the NT case, and my naive guess is that the correct NT values can be obtained by
1) subtracting the simmed average (~ 3.03 according to my Dealer sim) of the NT values in the patterns.new.txt file from each NT value;
2) multiplying each NT value by 2 using Andrews' definition of 'point' (why?);
3) rounding (up? down?) to the nearest fifth value for user-friendliness.
If correct, some of the new pattern values in the NT case would be:
4-3-3-3: 0.2 [~ 2*(3.12 - 3.03)]
4-4-3-2: 0.0 [~ 2*(3.07 - 3.03)]
5-3-3-2: 0.0 [~ 2*(3.04 - 3.03)]
