APPLE IPAD - OLDER IOS - VERSION 9.3.5 QUESTION ABOUT SOLITAIRE NOT WORKING

Hi

I have a second older IPAD that uses IOS 9.3.5. I have noticed that i can play instant tournaments and join tables on this older IPAD, but I am not able to play Solitaire - Just Play Bridge (Free). When I try, a pop up box comes up saying "Connection problem retrying" - followed by another pop up box saying "Service unavailable. Please refresh page or try again later". This does not happen on my newer IPAD that runs a more recent operating system. Is there any workaround re this problem as I would like to give the older IPAD to a bridgeplaying pensioner friend of mine?
