i do love playing the bots. i get more bad boards from "stupid bot bids" than from my own stupid bids. i thought this one was amusing.

Seats are always swapped for human-declares, so North is the robot.

Basic GIB's "book bid" is to pass 2♣. 2♠ does seem stupid, but I can understand why it did it; there will be enough cases where it does work out better than passing to give it a chance of coming out top in a sim.

Normally it is supposed to bid 4cd spades before 5 cd minor when < GF, but it needs a higher priority rule to bid 1nt in preference to 1S when holding weak 4-6+

Bidding 1S is a mistake many humans commit as well.

Yes, I agree. The North hand is awkward in SAYC or Acol, not just 2/1. In any partnership it is vitally important for both players to consider their rebids before actually pulling a card from the bidding box.

1♠ looks automatic but it shouldn't be.
