How weak is weak, and what lead (if any) would X ask for?

6-11 is the agreement but non vul at first....

double would not ask for any specific lead.

Partners range is quite wide and the distribution will quickly become an open book for declarer. Anything other than pass is just a WAG and who knows maybe there is a 4s bid forthcoming and I know I would be a ton happier defending that than 3n. I might even x 4s with my probable 3 defensive tricks and a bidding partner.

Tempting though it is, again it just doesn't feel like I quite have enough to double. I'll pass. They may yet land in 4S ;)

I'm passing. As ahydra says, they could yet end up in 4 . Also, it seems like partner probably has the rounded suits so 3 NT may not be a piece of cake.

Double

Not so much because you can guarantee a set, but because opponents are guessing as well and suits are not breaking well for them.
This could be a good investment.

Do you not feel a confident X is MORE likely to push them to 4 ?

yeah i'd smack this. bad breaks and so on. also might help partner with his lead to know they're in a marginal contract.

I'd double if only to get the right lead.

Pass would be absolutely automatic in my partnerships. You'd need very unusual 1st Seat NIL preempting agreements to consider anything else.

Think you have to double this one.
Great series of posts, Fluffy!
