I don't have distribution and I'm a maximum passed hand so partner might not have much at all.

this is an totally auto majors bid for anyone who plays matchpoints though personally i'm totally happy to bid at imps too on hands like this - 5 and 6 imps swings are not to be sniffed at.

My previous post was crap (see below). But I still don't balance with the given hand over a dead NT.

Let's see; I chose not to open opposite a passed partner with a balanced hand, so I could balance at the 2-level when the opponents know what they've got?

Please do this; our doubles are penalty. But, you might get a magic -50 vs our 90 on a good day.

I balance, not to say it's best, showing majors. I have used a toy in this positon for years and it was rare when it cost. Transfer landy, 2C allows partner to show the major he prefers bidding the tui below. This puts the NT hand on lead often best. Usually I do not have that toy sadly,so would pass trusting partner will make the best lead.

If you have a gadget for the majors, by all means use it.

If not, pass should be ok. After all, there is a 75% chance pard will make a good lead :)

Maybe too wimpy but pass for me. I figure if partner has enough to make balancing a good idea, then we have a decent chance of going plus defending 1NT anyway. But if he doesn't, it could hurt.

At MPs W/W, I make my both majors bid.

In any other situation I pass.

If you swapped my red suits, and I had 2 available to show +major, I'd consider it automatic to bid at these conditions. Given I actually have both majors, it's...automatic-er.

W/W MP I will employ the dutch system, double for "takeout" lol. I have no idea how it works but I know that brink/drijver and wortel/michelsen have both done it against me....white/white at MP in balancing seat only. It is pretty funny to actually play that.

Yes it is great if you can use double to show this hand. 2 playing DONT would not be so good although possibly still better than pass. Dbl has to mean something. Obviously it can't be penalty when you couldn't open, and it probably shouldn't be DONT either when you didn't preempt in the first place.

Methods?

If you have the option to show the majors, go for it.
With kind regards
