1D X 1H 3H? Is this weak, invitational or forcing with hearts, or asking for a stop? Or perhaps 2 suited? In 40+ years of bridge I never had this auction till last night. My Italian partner would be tapping his forearm (to signify the need for something intravenously!). Any thoughts?

My inclination is that X=4, 2=5+F1, no particular agreement about 3 but the sort of hand I'd like to do it on is one where I have values for game, heart stop but one that will play better from the other side opposite say Qx(x), something like Kxx, Axx, KQJ, xxxx. Exactly what the difference between 2/3 and 3 is has to be for partnership discussion, but without that, I'm not sure of the subtle nuances.

Would assume nat constructive with 6 hearts. I think it is fairly common to play 2 as nat with five, but I have never seen it played as forcing (before now).

I've had this auction. Partner had a decent but non-game-forcing hand with 6 hearts. We bid fairly rapidly to 6H, making exactly.

We tend to double with 5 hearts and 5 - 7 or 8, not sure what is standard. F1 doesn't guarantee anything great in this case, a decent 8 or 9.

For anti-psyche purposes, I have these defined as equivalent:

1 dbl pass 3
1 dbl 1 3

3 is nat, 5-card 8-10 H or 6-card 5-7 H. (give/take a point)

If double is "Hi, I have hearts, too, this should be fun", then I think 3 should be "We have 3NT if your hearts are good enough" - I'm guessing AKQxxx and out or something?

If double is "pick a pointed suit", then you need an anti-psychic auction. This looks like a good one.
