Its possible they play different elsewhere but in Canada this is pretty standard among experts.

I would be astonished if that were true. Surely Canadian experts all bid 1S with 44 in the majors just as non-Canadian experts do.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

I feel like this statement is the start of a joke about Canadian bridge experts that will eventually cause my being banned by Fred from the BBO Forums.

It also reminds me about when I was teaching a college friend of mine about proper etiquette when driving on a 2 lane highway (only getting in the left lane if you are intending to pass someone). She insisted that in Missouri, where she was from, it was standard just to pick a lane and drive.

North and South, what you've just done is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever seen. At no point in your rambling, incoherent auction were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having seen it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
I was kind of hoping you were being sarcastic, but the rest of your post seems to indicate you actually mean the above. You do realize the OP likely made one of those "insanely idiotic, beyond words" calls, yes?
Is there some reward for the most insulting way to express criticism?

Obviously someone hasn't watched enough early Adam Sandler movies :).

This is a direct paraphrase from Billy Madison.

North 1 bid is a joke and shows that North is a beginner or a HCP counter, incapable of judging a Bridge hand.
I would consider a 2 bid in response to the first takeout double still an underbid when AJx, Axxx, x, Jxxxx makes game almost lay-down.

South might have chosen other actions, but can not be criticized for the ones he took. His final pass is borderline. I do not agree that his second double can be restricted to hands with specifically 3 card heart support.
The second double simply shows extra strength, most likely a hand too strong to overcall 1NT at his first turn. It is okay with 3=4=3=3 . You want to stay low if partner is broke.
From South perspective the auction at his second turn is consistent with North holding a weak hand with 3=3=4=3.
All blame to North.

Souths bidding was at least not out of this world. Sure, he should have given it a straight forward value call at his second turn but he was hoping to stop in 2H opposite a yarb I guess. He at least showed most of his values and most of his hearts. North's bidding was out of this world. He probably did not realize that souths second double when his partner showed like 0-9 showed a very strong hand.
