I will try bidding my longest suit first so 2d

I may be able to double hearts later for takeout to show my spades.

Is ELC available? Assuming neither, 2 seems obvious, planning to reopen later.

I assume that I can ignore the possible Raptor, MAFia, Canape Overcalls, and the like, or this would be stated.

I do overcall with very strong hands, playing this style i cant really overcall 2 and then double at high level. I say high level because i am expecting some serious preempt most of the time. If we are going to compete vs hearts i want to keep suit in the picture from the start, not later. This hand would not make its way to forums if we changed a diamond to hearts. I admit though it is close decision and i can see other aproach being the winner. But my choice is definetely DBL.

Here is my two cents' worth:

The two choices are not equally good. That would imply that it doesn't matter which one we choose, and IMHO one or the other will work out better over the long run.

ELC probably won't be a factor; if I double and (2H) 3C (P) comes back around, I won't use ELC. A mere 2C advance by CHO I would pull to 2D, but that isn't going to happen.

So, considering what is likely to happen next, do we want to show a six-bagger? I think we do; some of the times we fear losing a spade fit might not be a problem because of responsive doubles, snappish doubles, fit showing advances, and freebids.

I won't be delighted if pard leaves 1HX in, either....but, nah, that won't happen. So, it is just a choice between two reasonable approaches.

Dbl, if I decide to correct 2C to 2D and we are not playing ELC, then np, I certainly have some extras. Of course I might then have to pull 3H doubled to 4C but at imps that is probably not a big deal. This is a no-brainer when you consider risk vs gain.

When no known great fit, suggest the safety/competition of the longest suit. And if opps discover good heart fit, I am competing with dbls all the way to 4 level.

get me the spade J and dia T and i would bid 2d

I do not have sufficient suit quality to bid 4s
if the opps go to 4h (much less double again)

I therefore opt for the most flexible bid i can make
at this time and hope we dont end up in 1h x:)
If p bids 2c i can stand it.

At imps you cant afford to sell out to 4H without showing the S. So either you bid 2D planning to X all the way up to 4H, risking 4Hx making, or you X at the 1 level. The thing you must avoid imo is 2D followed by a pass of 4H.

I like to play a style where we dont like to X with voids and we are agressive at passing doubles. So here its safer if we X first. But playing a more standard style I would overcall 2D since even if my hand is minimum I like being on lead with AKx of clubs for defending 4Hx.
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

I like 2H even with only 4xS. I have a void after all.
I'll rebid 2D/3D if given a chance.

I would double with this and this is also a no brainer for me.
