IMO this hand is too strong for a direct 4.

In case you play in this sequence 4 as "fit-jump" - promising 4+ , good -suit and high offense-defense-ratio - then this would be my choice.
Lacking this I would go for 4: slam interest, either with a strong hand or with -support.

4 is not a jump. :P

Since we're a passed hand, 4 can't be anything else than a "fit-non-jump" showing a with a fit (otherwise we'd open a number of before). If partner doesn't understand this, he has a lot to learn, and this may be a good example. :)

I like the fit non-jump take, especially as partner has room over 4 to bid 4 as another push.

And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

I require two of the top three for my fit-jumps (and -non-jumps), so that leaves it as a coin toss between a light 4H and a heavy 4S. If you have less strict requirements for 4D, by all means bid that.

Hi,

I prefer 4H, since this takes away a 4H raise.

Opps obviously won't Dbl 4 if they have that raise...

4H looks better than 4D, even if we play that as fit non jump.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.
