Can't imagine having passed this hand... If I just found a hidden Ace, I guess I can only Dbl.

OK, I'll bite. Obviously, I am being called out to bid 3NT, so let me see why 3NT is actually the right call.

In reality, though, I agree with "1" as the answer. I also think that 4 at this point shows something like this hand -- a fit non-jump -- as who bids 4 on their own, having not opened something, without diamonds?!?!?

This, then, is the reason why 3NT obviously is the right call. (joking) With 4135 or so, double stands out. No passed hand merits a call without diamond support. So, 3NT either shows what it sounds like -- great diamond support and a heart stopper or two -- or it is a surrogate bid to show an intention to bid something above 3NT, done by way of bidding 3NT to not inadvertently bypass 3NT. With the hand with heart control and great diamonds, and not right to penalize 3, I'd have opened 2. So, I cannot have that. Thus, I have the latter, meaning something above 3NT. The only non-double candidate is a club fit non-jump, so 3NT clearly shows a club-based fit non-jump, which is what I have!

Bingo... Ken.

I bit ( the bullet ) too... and bid 3NT ( to play ).... It was no cakewalk... but netted 13+ IMPs.

But the dJ turned out to be golden as it provided a 2nd needed entry to the Clubs.

Partner's hand ( North ) in 3rd seat:

J x x x
A Q 9 x
K Q 8 x
T

The Preemptor ( East ) had K J T-7th of Hts and the dAce.

West held a stiff small Ht ( opening lead ) and K J 6 5 4 of Cl

I took the hA and played on Clubs.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
EDIT: I forgot to mention N/S was RED ( vs White ).

This may not be right... but as for my initial pass, I have a phobia about 1-level openings with an 8+ loser hands in 1st or 2nd seat.
Normally, my " 11's " openers are A, A, K .

I also wonder whether I was called away from the table while bing dealt this hand and the wine waiter bid my hand.
I double now. 3NT is not an option.

The hand you gave us only has 7 losers.

If you made up this hand, do a better job in the future so that you don't look completely ridiculous.

If you really bid like this, no comment.

Yes, very good agreement.

All pairs should discuss that kind of sequences.......

Han, I appreciate your constructive comments and analyses, but think we can do without posts like this.

For which group of people are you speaking when you say we?

And are you saying that the bidding displayed by the OP is not completely ridiculous? Or do you agree that it is completely ridiculous but we should be polite and not say so?

It is definitely not clear whether pass or 3NT was the worst call. If I were the OP, I would keep this auction as quiet as possible instead of posting it on a public forum.
