as you evidently don't believe me, i suggest you see if any (and i really mean any) other posters would play this double as penalty, assuming they're willing to voice an opinion and risk the wrath of Mr. Sheinwold's ghost.


Obvously you cannot have a true penalty double but it is perfectly playable for X here to be convertible values. If you need a specific take-out bid then use 2NT. Some pairs also have a rule that doubles stop being take-out after 3 suits have been bid by our side.
