At the time of writing, Bathurst are 94 up, it's looking like there won't be an eighth set. Congratulations, Justin+co - you haven't just won the trials, you've obliterated some world class opposition over very long matches. I am looking forward to following you in Veldhoven.

Edit: This was premature, Diamond are playing on 81 down. I shan't delete my post...although if it gets to within 25 I may reconsider this position :P

For an event like this, I come out of posting retirement: I didn't see a lot of the bridge but what I did see was very, very impressive.....congrats to the Bathurst team and to Justin in particular, since he is the big forum presence on the team.

Looks like a changing of the guard over the past year...not that Fred and Co were exactly youngsters when they won in Philly, but maybe we're witnessing the end of an era and the beginning of a new one.

I echo Mike's comments.

The last set was wild and wooly, and closer than I expected.

I'm expecting great things in October!

Congratulations to Justin and his team. A job well done though it's only the beginning.

Congratulations to Justin!

Here's hoping his head doesn't get so big that he stops posting on the forums.

Fantastic bridge all the way, it was great to watch.

I agree that this may signal a new "era", but I wouldn't call DIAMOND the old guard, considering both their respective ages and the fact that as a team they haven't been dominant for long. Hell, losing by 0.25 IMPs/board in the trials final is hardly a sign of obsolescence.

I'd say the old guard is NICKELL and their contemporaries, including FLEISHER, who let's not forget are USA1 this year. I do believe those folks will be less and less prominent as time goes on. And I'm glad to see BATHURST doing so well. I won't be surprised if they win the BB.

Great event to watch on BBO vugraph, with fine and exciting bridge. Congratulations to the winners -- and especially to Justin!

I doubt "those folks" will be less prominent over time. :)

I would hardly call that team over the hill.

With that said congrats to the winners and congrats to all the forum members in the Team Trials.

You all played great and a huge best wishes.

To beat both reigning World Champion teams in the same event, has anyone managed to do it before?

Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch the second half of the match. I will be rooting for you guys in coming BB. Remember that you haven't won anything yet ;)
