Well done, you've pushed them up a level.

Just a pedestrian low club for me.

I voted ace of hearts but I have changed my mind. Low club.

I held this hand and considered a middle spade, the A and a low club. I mentally counted six diamonds and two spade tricks. I did not mind giving up a club, since it was only the 9th trick.

However, LHO probably isn't doubling 4 with a void, so clubs are very likely 2-1. The nice thing about the A, is it allows a switch back to hearts. Here was the actual layout:

Sadly I led the low club and 10 tricks were cashed.

The A works, but that would be a disaster if the Q were the K.

So after the middle spade lead, declarer cashes 3 spades and 6 diamonds and concedes -1, is that right? (Just checking since there seem to be mulitple 4s and 2s out...)

Ignore the spots - I was recreating this from memory. However, dummy had the Q stiff. Too lazy to analyze it, but I think we are in trouble on the run of six diamonds.

edit a day later - nah.

we would be in trouble if declarer had a spade honnor in hand, but if he doesn't he won't be able to cash K after running diamonds.
