I recommend the movie thread.

This thread has been active for longer than pretty much any other thread (i.e. with people regularly posting rather than lying dormant for years and then maybe being revived). Virtually all the posts are on topic, and it's been pretty useful.

Of course, if we want a bridge-related thread it's not the best choice, but I don't recall that being specified. :(

Except Water Cooler and Laws forum, I am not a big contributor to either so I would probably misjudge it.

Yes the movie thread would be nice but it's apples and oranges. Of course comparing threads in the bridge-related discussion is also pretty apples and oranges :(

What about the over 20 hours of college math thread (and a related thread.)

I agree with Josh's memory, not the real Josh, I think the 5 overcall thread is hilarious!
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

Ooo!

I computed them using probabilities and combinations...

One of the best one-liners.

I don't have time to justify all of them but 83 is great because it came before all other rating threads and was actually an anti-rating thread  And 21082 was an unanimous poll (as of 27 January 2010).

edit: adding
http://forums.bridge...showtopic=25181 to the list, particularly Echognome's reply was hysterical.

It's really hard to keep track of with just the numbers. Is there any way you could label them by subject (or interesting sub-subject as the case may be) for an actual poll?

So it seems that we have two main categories of threads:

1) Threads that contain helpful, informative, or provacative posts/ideas that attempt to teach something

2) Threads where someone posted something really stupid and people tell them so in humorous ways.

I worry that if we pick threads of the second category, it will only serve to make fun of people, and tell non-frequent posters (or new posters) that this could be their fate if they cross the line that others state.

I guess I'm worrying about the appearance of bullying. But maybe that's over thinking. I do admit they are funny, and I don't actually feel sorry for most of the picked on in the threads highlighted. I just am worried about appearances.

Well. Quickly click through the threads that you consider to be the ones where people get flamed for something stupid while noting which subforum the thread is in. Perhaps if you see a pattern, there might be a moral to the story or some sort of lesson available that should mitigate the appearance of unwarranted bullying. There is a reason for specific subforums, after all.

Also, gwnn, was it just an error to leave the squeeze threads out of that or did they not qualify?

Edit: I added Ben's stuff above.

If I were judging solely based on bridge related content I think Ben's work on squeezes wins.

If I were voting on the best content by the "community" participating in the thread I'd have to go for "We didn't Vote for Bush"

For sheer amusement value, "20 Hours of College Math"

sure Ben's squeeze threads should be there. I guess we should open a poll now? no specific criteria, just "which would you name as thread of the decade?".
