WD limiting who can post in which forums.

Now, if only you can figure out how a member can filter out certain forums. Its still irksome to click View New Content and see over half of the posts related to issues with GIB.

Personally I think that this is an OTT reaction. When someone posts crap, a dozen others are not slow to pile in and correct them. Moderators should only step in as a last resort.
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

Or they could just fix every problem with GIB. :)

I agree with you and I wanted to let the community sort it out, like they did so far, and they did a great job. I thought this was a last resort situation, in the end, because this guy is a mentor. As a beginner I would be tempted to give him some credit despite everyone else piling against him, for the mere fact that he's mentoring some beginners somewhere.

That's our usual approach, and it's usually sufficient. But it didn't seem to work in this case. We were getting reports every few days about his apparent trolling. And the "piling" was turning into flame wars and name calling (one of these was split off into a Water Cooler thread). This seemed to be getting in the way of educational information in the N/B forum, so we felt that preventative action needed to be taken.

This was one of the best moderation decisions in the history of the forums imo. Well done. I think you guys let the lurpoa situation go on for way too long and it almost ruined the forums, now the novice/beginner section was being ruined which is criminal and you guys acted swiftly (enough) and decisively in a fair manner.

Single trolls can ruin entire forums, ensuring that does not happen is what the moderators are here for above all else imo.

I plead ignorance (my usual status); but, something seems wrong here.

I haven't read the applicable threads where the problems occurred; however, how can you laud someone for mentoring and at the same time say what he is advising is unsuitable for those being mentored?

I meant if a beginner would see advice from someone who's a mentor for some club, they might be tempted to give that person some credit. There is something wrong, in that some persons aren't supposed to mentor at all, but we only handle the Forums here, can't control what people do elsewhere.

Removed some personal attacks from the I/A Forums.

Reminder to new & old posters: please refrain from attacking other posters or make insinuations about other people's skill level. Discuss the bridge, not the person.

0 Carbon posted the same message asking if anyone reads the suggestions in several different threads. I responded to one of them, and deleted the rest because they're redundant.

It looks like a thread started by cherdano got deleted? Not worth a mention here?

It was removed, along with the posts that had triggered it. I have no complaints about how the moderators handled this.
