It's instinctive the duck the club, but I'm not going to, I'm going to win and play a diamond at once.
(for me, the spade finesse would be wrong anyway, but that's not the issue)

You need the spade hook and to discard a spade on the ♦J. At first I can't see much point in ducking the lead, so I take the ace. I need to set up the diamond trick in dummy in time. I guess I'll play off the trump ace (instinctively that seems right to me) before playing a diamond. Guess I've missed something here, but not sure what.

i think need to win the first trick in dummy and play a d.
if you let the heart run you'll have an entry problem later to take the spade finesse (unless you ruff your established diamond)
