I have a small collection of software on my machine, including linconverter, deep finesse and of course BBO interface.
I am asked to provide a commentary on a teams match. I find that I am hampered by the hassle of getting all of the information together.
I go to myhands, and I can see the hands one by one in separate lin files that I cannot see how to save in .lin format on my hard drive (I was not playing or kibitzing at the time so it does not autosave it).
I can then manually, laboriously, card by card enter the hands one by one into deep finesse to check that I have not missed a point in the play.
Then I have the problem of compiling a single .lin file with all of the hands for emailing to the student, and frankly I do not know where to start with that.
How should I streamline this process, please? Any ideas?

Continuation of the above:
When I examine saved matches in .lin format produced by others, there is a traveller embedded within the file, so that the one file contains all of the hands in the match that summarise the result, and you can select hands from the match at will to drill down to the auction and play, and then chop to another hand without exiting the application. This would be a useful function if I would work out how to create the file in that format.

Not ideal answers but:
1. You could have one of the players email you the lin of the match when it concludes or
2. You could enter the match as a spec. When the match ends (make sure you tell BBO in your profile/options that you want to log specced hands) you will have a match lin
You can then open the match lin in BBO with the MOVIE button and annotate it in place (make a copy elsewhere first
) inside BBO.
That is the simplest way. You could construct the match lin file by hand but it would be painful. I will ask FG if there is an easy way to do it.

Thanks for that. Getting the match emailed in full as a single .lin file certainly helps.
But is there a way to convert a multiple-board tourny .lin file into a format that can be opened by deep finesse without re-keying all the cards? Deep finesse seems to read .txt files.

Do we know what other files can be read by DF ? Do you mean DF (retail) ?
Why not the built in GIB ?
There was a guy who was playing w/a commercial version of some pgm that offered something very similar to what you are talking about. Darned if I can remember his name, sorry. I can dredge it out of old email if you are interested.

Try this (untested):
Save each movie file (instead of opening it).
Concat all the resulting files in one.
About DF, doesn't it take PBN as input? Then LinConverter or Pavlicek's converter should be able to do it.

Thanks for all the help.
I now understand how to save a movie of an individual hand from myhands as a .lin file.
I tried concatenating 2 of them but had no joy. Don't know what I was supposed to be doing but I used Notepad to open them and just used Control A to select all the file, copy to clipboard, and paste into the end of another version of notepad that contains the second lin file. Then saved as new lin file, but when I opened the new lin file it only shows one file.
I have the full commercial version of deep finesse. It reads .txt and .dat files only. It doesn't mention any pbn files and I don't have any such files for testing.
I eventually found pavlicek's converter but it seems a bit buggy. I converted an emailed team game lin file and it failed. Well, it created a lin file, which movie successfully opened, but only saved the hands from about trick 10 onwards, and then produced a windows error message that I was prompted to send to microsoft.
I don't have GIB. I have been thinking of getting it, simply because of this facility, if available, but it is not cheap and I have been having difficulty identifying its functionality before buying.
So, still thinking about this.
