This morning I played live bridge for the first time in 6 months. Here are some interesting hands, mostly hands that I did badly on.

You are playing 2/1 with udca.

1)
Scoring: MP

p-(1S)-3C-(5D)
p-(6S)-all pass.

You lead the club ace, partner follows with the 7, declarer with the 10. Plan the play.

2)
Scoring: MP

p-(1S)-3C-(5D)
p-(6S)-all pass.

You lead the spade king, partner plays the 4 and declarer the 5. Plan the play.

3)
Scoring: MP

1S-(p)-3C*-(Dbl)
??

*4+ spades, 5-8 HCP.

Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

1) a diamond switch looks right. I've been wrong before.

2) It isn't clear here what partner's signal means, as declarer may be concealing the 3. I think I'll switch to a heart.

3) 3.

1) I would like to know more about RHO. Since it's a club game it seems fair to assume he wont falsecard in clubs and the bidding may be crazy. I would also like to know more about partner. Would he signal with the KJ or HK? He really shouldn't, but I suspect it would take a very good expert player to resist (especially from KJ).

2) Spade king seems clear. I can't think of a layout where this play ever loses. Declarer might well be 8-4 or 7-4 and partner needs a ruff. Again, I see no downside to this play. There is no need for an active defense.

3) 4H. I'm going to bid game with this hand opposite any hand with 4 spades. It may make, may be a save over 4m, may push them to 5m, whatever. I'll bid 4H in case of further competition.

1) 10 in a hopes to cut off communications.

2) Another spade. Dummy has no clear entry.

3) 4. Let's bid our hand out now.

1. looks right. Club is only right when pard has Kx. Hopefully pard has a higher diamond if he's holding the A and x or xx.

2. 2nd high spade.

3. Its matchpoints, so I won't try 4, but I think its a reasonable call. I'll content myself with 3 and let pard in on the decision. Pard may want to saw off 4 of a minor with heart shortness.

Hand 1.

Partner has 3 diamonds and the heart ace, didn't you see his 7? Just kidding, I also played a diamond, I thought it unlikely that declarer had no side aces. Next time I'd better trust this partner (it was our first time together).

Hand 2.

Partner has 10x KQxxx AKxx xx, so you'd better take the spade ace too.

Hand 3.

Partner has K10xxx xx Axx xxx, so I hope that you were in 4S. LHO lead the club king, RHO overtook and played the heart king, bingo!

I'm not sure what they can make as I claimed early. RHO has a spade void and the KQ of hearts.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.
